When is the right time to trim shrubs and trees?
Late winter, while most plants are dormant, is the safest window for structural pruning in North Texas. The big exception is spring bloomers — prune those right after they flower or you'll cut off next season's buds. Light shaping can happen through the growing season.
Do you top crape myrtles?
No. Cutting the tops off crape myrtles ruins the tree's structure and forces weak, whippy regrowth that flops under its own flowers. We thin and shape them, which keeps the natural form and the bloom.
How often do hedges and foundation shrubs need trimming?
Most foundation shrubs and hedges hold a clean shape with two or three trims across the growing season. Fast growers put on more and may want more. What matters is trimming before growth gets woody and leggy, when a hard cut leaves bare stems showing.
Do you haul away the clippings?
Yes. Debris removal is part of the service — we clean up the beds and hard surfaces and take the trimmings with us.
How large a tree will you work on?
We handle ornamental trees, hedges, and shrubs — crape myrtles, Japanese maples, hollies, boxwood, privet, and foundation plantings. Large-canopy removals and limbs over the roof are a certified arborist's job, and we'll say so rather than take on work that belongs to a tree service.
Can trimming prevent storm damage?
It helps. Overgrown, unbalanced limbs are the ones that split in a North Texas thunderstorm, and branches resting on a roof or siding cause damage in every wind event. Keeping growth controlled and clear of the structure is cheap insurance.
